KeepTheReceipt is a mobile application developed and operated by PortalDash LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use the KeepTheReceipt app (the "App") on iOS and Android devices.
By downloading or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide Directly
When you use the App, you may provide information such as:
- Product names, purchase dates, purchase prices, and store names you enter to track return windows.
- Return deadline dates and any custom notes you add to an entry.
- Exported or imported data files when using the import/export feature (available to premium subscribers).
Information Collected Automatically
We may collect certain technical information automatically when you use the App, including:
- Device type, operating system version, and app version.
- Crash logs and diagnostic data to help us identify and fix bugs.
- Anonymous usage analytics (e.g., which features are used most frequently) to improve the App.
Payment Information
If you subscribe to KeepTheReceipt Premium, all payment transactions are processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment card numbers or billing details. Please review Apple's and Google's privacy policies for information on how they handle payment data.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the core features of the App, including storing your return deadline entries and sending reminder notifications.
- Process and manage your premium subscription status.
- Diagnose crashes, fix bugs, and improve App performance.
- Analyze anonymous, aggregated usage data to understand how users interact with the App and guide future improvements.
- Respond to your support requests or inquiries.
- Comply with applicable legal obligations.
3. Data Storage and Security
Your product entries and return deadline data are stored locally on your device. We do not transmit your personal product entries to our servers in the standard course of app operation. If cloud backup or sync features are introduced in a future version, this policy will be updated accordingly before such features are released.
Crash logs and anonymous analytics data may be transmitted to third-party service providers (see Section 4) for processing. We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
4. Third-Party Service Providers
We may use third-party services that collect data on our behalf for the purposes of analytics and crash reporting. These providers are contractually obligated to handle your data only as directed by us and in accordance with applicable law. Examples may include:
- Apple App Store / Google Play — subscription and payment processing.
- Crash reporting tools (e.g., Firebase Crashlytics) — anonymous crash and diagnostic data.
- Analytics platforms — anonymous, aggregated usage statistics.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
5. Notifications
The App uses push notifications to remind you of upcoming or expiring return windows. Notification delivery is handled by your device's operating system (Apple Push Notification Service or Firebase Cloud Messaging). You can disable notifications at any time through your device's system settings. Disabling notifications will not delete your data but will prevent return deadline reminders from appearing.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the address below and we will promptly delete it.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Deletion — You may request that we delete your personal data. Because your product entries are stored locally on your device, you can delete all data at any time by uninstalling the App.
- Correction — You may correct inaccurate data directly within the App at any time.
- Opt-out of analytics — You may opt out of anonymous analytics data collection through the App's settings (where available).
- California residents (CCPA) — You have the right to know, delete, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
- EEA/UK residents (GDPR) — You may have additional rights including data portability and the right to restrict processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.
8. Data Retention
Since your product entry data is stored locally on your device, it is retained until you delete individual entries within the App or uninstall the App entirely. Crash logs and anonymous analytics data retained by third-party providers are governed by their respective retention policies. We do not retain identifiable personal data on our servers beyond what is necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, notify you through the App or via the App Store listing. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
